Our current featured video is Profilograph (after Muybridge) by Pablo Garcia, a fascinating short documentary focusing on the processes and techniques involved in producing a ‘profilograph’. A term coined by Pablo for tracing, then extruding a series of sequential contours, or profiles. In this case, the profilograph has been created around slides of a galloping horsefrom Eadweard Muybridge’s classic Animal Locomotion - a seminal work that has influenced the worlds of science, biomechanics, artists & animators, and was produced in 1887. The film charts the various processes that lead to the finished profilograph;  from Digital Model, to 3D Print, through to Investment Casting. The final part of the film superimposes Muybridge's image over the finished Bronze Casting, bringing something familiar to the abstruse profiles of the bronze.
