Viii, 109pp. Printed green paper boards & green linen spine; Untrimmed leaves. Condition: Bumping to corners; Discoloured outer boards; Page edges dust stained. Inside: Light tanning to page edges and the odd mark; Owner inscription in ink (v) “Thos Hugh Jones 1824” (signature opposite). Also, later inscription to front paste-down “I Wil Ifan, / Gyda dymuniadau gorau / Dan Jenkins. / Mai-haf-hin / 1938.”* Good.
Verses on the “Foundation of St. David’s College, Near Lampeter; and the Recent Victories of the Greeks over the Turks...” All text is in Welsh, with the exception being the dedication (iii) to Rt Hon. George, Lord Dynevor. Poetry & verse by: William Williams; Daniel Evans; I. Benjamin; Richard Jones; Roger Willilams; John Howells; Ioan Tegyd; Iago Emlyn, etc..
Note on ownership: It’s possible this copy was owned by a leading Welsh-language pioneer - Dan Jenkins (1856-1946), before being given as present. Scarce publication. WorldCat lists copies currently held by The British Library, London & The University of Wales.
