Half bound and re-backed with the original spine and corners re-laid over brown boards; Marbled page edges; New endpapers and pastedowns; All pages present with the exception of the frontispiece which is missing; Some pages grubby, though not heavily foxed; Signature to the original ffe; Old tape repairs on 2 pages; Some small tears; One large open tear with missing text p153.
Issue Notes: The engraved title shows the later correction "Weller". Other issue points: a second hanging sign has "Marquis Cranby”; footnote on p. 9, signature 'E' on p. 25; p.43, 2nd paragraph below chapter V, line 1 reads "ruined wall" in the singular; with the signature misprint on p.261, reading X2; p. 278 line 40 with 'Samuel' instead of 'Weller', p. 342 line 5 has Veller instead of Weller, header misprinted "Picwkick" on p.375, p. 400 line 21 has "this", and line 29 has "ladling", an imperfect "F" in the word "OF" in the heading of p. 432, signature ‘MM2’ on p.485, etc.
