Silk Collages by Jane Carlisle Bellerby

We are pleased to announce that Treasure & Relish now has new works by Jane Carlisle Bellerby for sale. Her observations and thoughts are beautifully realised as hand painted silk collages. These four recent works, all from 2012 have various inspirations, including: The unique atmosphere of Whitby Abbey; The advent of Spring depicted here in an ethereal misty haze; The history and resonance of the Kilburn White Horse, represented as a totemic dark traveller; and a pensive, yet colourful and personal interpretation of the Yorkshire landscape that includes the dark mass of the high fells silhouetted against the rich gold and pink of a new dawn.

Jane’s descriptive and very personal work often prompts memories of visits to the countryside, and better than a photograph, they manage to allude to atmospheres of times past.

Using silk as her medium, means that her colours can be rich and iridescent, or transparent, or both. As well as this, silk allows for increased texture, again bringing additional depth to her work.
