Featured Video: Cut!

We chose to featureCut! Letter Carving in Stone for two of its themes - Art & Letters, which nicely compliment our areas of interest.  This short film produced by Incisive Letterwork, takes us through the processes of cutting and preparing a slab of stone for carving. Despite this being a subject of potentially limited interest, the film is actually very appealing no doubt due to the enthusiasm, dedication to their art, and the skill of all concerned. A special mention to the film’s success should be made to Elias Lenge for devising and composing such a brilliant soundtrack, which overlays Zoë Keating’s musical composition with the cold hard syncopation of chisels and machinery to great success.  The subject of stone carving is tackled with a good deal of sensitivity. The close-up shots of the chisels cutting through the stone, resulting in the precise carvings towards the end of the 6 minute film are really beautiful.
