Exhibition of Paintings by Elena Putley 19th August - 30th September

Treasure & Relish are delighted to present an carefully selected exhibition of colourful paintings by Harrogate artist Elena Putley from 19th August to the 30th September. 

Elena is an experienced artist, used to working in a wide range of mediums. During the last few years she has concentrated on painting & photography, finding inspiration in some of her favourite places - Paris; Tunisia; Crete; London; Utrecht; Jerusalem; Tortola, and.... Yorkshire. 

This exhibition will provide an opportunity to see and buy her most recent paintings. 

"Since 1995 I have travelled extensively, and these experiences are the main sources of inspiration for me. Representation and abstraction coexist in my work. Weather, places and architecture are essential to my practice; experiences inform the content. My work exists between the real and imaginary, past and present.

When travelling, I take a lot of photographs and pick up all sorts of odd objects - from menu’s, postcards and local newspapers to small antique and collectable objects, anything that will help to conjure a memory or spark my imagination. I love the energy and buzz of the cities and visiting new places, there’s always so much happening and so much to inspire me. I try to work as spontaneously as possible in order to maintain life and energy in my work. My paintings are a constant visual journey, cravings for new places. I live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, but I paint where I cannot be. The main influences on my work are Turner, Pierre Bonnard, Maurice Utrillo, early Cubists, Pavel Filonov, Wassily Kandinsky, Richard Diebenkorn, Paul Noble."
