Compass Plane by Gleave, Manchester.
Approx size: 19cm long x 7cm at widest point (7 ½” x 2 ¾”). The front of plane and blade are stamped 'Gleave, Oldham St., Manchester. Established 1833'. Note: Joseph Gleave is understood to have operated at 8 Oldham St, Manchester, from 1854 to 1868. This Compass Plane also has a previous owners stamp (in numerous places) - 'F. Osbaldeston'.
Lovely patina and very tactile. Marks and scars added through age and use add to its attraction. Would look good in a collection or displayed on its own.
